Cirque will be presented at the Arena at Gwinnett Center in Duluth.Get your family and head over to the Center for Puppetry Arts to check out the new Jim Henson exhibit: A Man and His Frog. Relieve your childhood with America’s favorite and most famous puppet. This exhibit features photographs of Jim and Kermit, some of the photos even date back to his days with Sam and Friends.

The Center for Puppetry Arts is located in the Midtown neighborhood.Print out your checklist and head down to Piedmont Park for the Piedmont Park Conservancy’s once monthly bird walk. Piedmont Park, in conjunction with the Atlanta Audubon Society will guide bird watchers of all levels through the park to explore the different habitats and birds that roar the park. Tour groups will meet at the Piedmont Park Conservancy Community Center at 8:00 a.m.

The walks are free of charge.Catch an all new Stone Mountain Lasershow at Stone Mountain Park. Go hang out on the mountain and catch the Lasershow Spectacular in Mountainvision plus a special fireworks display, every night, this weekend.Runners:On Saturday, runners in Cobb County can participate in the Celebrate Freedom 5K and 10K. The race is sponsored by 104.7 The Fish, Natalie’s Orchid Island Juice Company and Christian Runners.

This course is described as fast and flat. The race begins at 7:30 a.m. At Jim Miller Park in Marietta.The 2011 Atlanta 10K Classic is Georgia’s most popular Labor Day road race and “its part of the Georgia Cup Health and Wellness series that is organized by Spincycle Sports”.

The course is made up of mostly of flat course with some hills. All finishers will receive a 2011 Atlanta 10K Classic Road Race T-shirt.

Top finishers will be awarded special prizes. The race will be held at Riverview Landing in Mableton.In Chamblee, runners are lining up for the Big Peach Sizzler 10K. The race begins at the Chamblee MARTA Station and is presented by Miles for Cystic Fibrosis; proceeds from the run will benefit Cystic Fibrosis families. After the race, the organization will be holding a huge post-race part and all participants will be receiving awards.Sports Enthusiasts:Start your Labor Day weekend early with the Atlanta Falcons. The Falcons go head-to-head with the Baltimore Ravens for their final pre-season matchup on Thursday night at 7:30 p.m.

The Falcons will be on their home turf for the first time since their pre-season game against the Miami Dolphins. Tickets can be purchased at Ticketmaster outlets and online. The game will be held in the Georgia Dome, Downtown.On Friday, the big cats will rumble. The Georgia State Panthers will host the Panthers of Clark Atlanta University at the Georgia Dome. This game will be the season opening game for both GSU and CAU, and this game will be the first game of GSU’s second season. Tickets for this game can be purchased on Ticketmaster.And on Saturday, the Bulldogs of Athens and the Broncos of Boise will go head-to-head on the Georgia Dome turf.

Zodiac The Race Begins Toggle

The game will be held at 8:00 p.m.; so Georgia fans have all day to tailgate, purchase Georgia gear and fellowship. Tickets are available at both schools and on Ticketmaster.This weekend, Hampton will be jam-packed with people from “far and wide” coming to see their favorite driver race to the finish. Atlanta Motor Speedway will host cars and trucks on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. On Friday, the truck race, the Atlanta 200 will be held at 8:00 p.m.; on Saturday, the Nationwide Great Clips 300 will be held starting at 7:30 and on Sunday, tires will turn and rubber will burn for the Sprint Cup AdvoCare 500 race.

Tickets are available through Ticketmaster.Artsy Crowd:Bring your friends out to Martinis and IMAX at Fernbank Museum, every Friday. Atlanta’s beautiful people convene around 6:30 p.m. For bar bites and drinks, complete with live music, a DJ and a full bar. Attendees can purchase tickets online for this event. Tickets include admission to the IMAX theatre and a cover charge for the unique event. Fernbank is located in Midtown.The Bodies Exhibit in Atlantic Station was extended though the summer but it will be leaving soon.

Bodies offers an “intimate and informative view into the human body”. The exhibit displays over 200 human body parts that have been dissected and preserved. Tickets are about $25 and the exhibit is located in Midtown.The Art in the Park event has been held on Marietta Square for the last 25 years.

The event features art from all over the country and is also home to an artist market and a festival. The festival is free with plenty of free parking on the street and in the Cobb County Park Deck. The event will be held at Historic Marietta Square and Glover Park on Labor Day weekend.Foodies:On Saturday, the Sweet Auburn Curb Market will be hosting a Culinary Tour of Sweet Auburn Curb Market. The indoor walking tour includes a variety of unique eateries. Visitors will be able to talk with the vendors and taste various food offerings. Tickets to the tour cost $32 and are on sale at the Sweet Auburn Curb Market, which is located in O4W.Park Tavern will host the 7th Annual Beer and Whiskey Fest, rain or shine, on Sunday from 2:00 p.m.

Until 11:00 p.m. This event will benefit the Atlanta Beltline and feature beers, whiskeys and four tribute bands. Park Tavern is located in Midtown.Foodies can also partake in special offers at local restaurants during Midtown Restaurant Week. Participating restaurants include: Abattoir, 4th and Swift, Going Costal and many more.

During restaurant week, participating restaurants will offer discounted three-course meals at casual to fine dining restaurants.The Atlanta Botanical Garden will be holding Garden Chef Demos on Saturday and Sunday. According to their website, “the Garden Chef (for that week) will showcase seasonal fruits, vegetables and herbs in simple and mouthwatering recipes”. The demos are held from 1:00 p.m.

Until 2:00 p.m.Geeks:The world’s largest fantasy/sci-fi convention, Dragon.Con, will be held in the Downtown neighborhood, this weekend. This year the convention will celebrate its 24th anniversary. More than 50,000 people attend the four day convention, annually; the convention features 3,500 hours of activities. Scheduled activities include a parade, autograph sessions, a vendor room, costume contest, the Parsik Awards.

The event is presented by DeKalb Medical and is held at a couple of several venues located in and around the downtown Decatur Square. The Decatur Book Festival launched in 2006. During the festival authors hold readings and panel discussions. The event is free to the public.Riverdale will host their first Seafood and Beer Festival in the Riverdale City Center.

The festival will feature all types of seafood and fish dishes. The event will be held on Saturday and will feature performances by Avery Sunshine, Alyson Williams and Full Force. Food and drink will be available for purchase and lawn chairs are encouraged. The event will conclude with a fireworks show.
